Parsons Sound & Vision: Final Countdown

Over the past four weeks I’ve been teaching a summer course at Parsons School of Design called Sound & Vision. This is my (7th?) year teaching this studio for the Summer Intensive Studies program with my colleague and close friend Amy Finkel. It’s always a ton of fun with a talented and diverse group of college-level/adult students from all over the world. The course serves as an introduction to time-based media and encourages students to explore, document and map the city though sound and image.  Students learn both the technical and conceptual fundamentals of audio/video production and create narrative, documentary and experimental work.

This year’s group has been a pleasure to work with and I’m looking forward to screening their final projects this Friday in the Orientaion “Bark Room” on the Ground Floor of 2 West 13th Street. Projects will include soundscapes, documentary shorts and experimental animations. The exhibition is from 1-3pm and various other work from the fashion, graphic design and fine art departments will also be on display. Come check it out!
